Mansinam island

Mansinam island is the island area of 410.97 hectares located in the Bay Doreh, District south of Manokwari, West Papua province, Indonesia. Around 154 years ago, precisely on 5 February 1855, two German evangelist, C.W. Ottow and Johann Gottlob Geissler, set foot for the first time on the island Mansinam. The two missionaries arrived on the island is Mansinam, after going through a very long journey. By using the Abel Tasman ship, they traverse the ocean Tanjung Harapan, Batavia, Makassar, Ternate, and finally arrived on the island Mansinam in the year 1855.


Since the coming of the second person, Island Mansinam be important for pengabaran point in the Gospel of Papua. On the island this is, for the first time people of Papua profess Christianity. The first church in the Land of Papua, which is the Church of expectations (Krek der Hopen), also built on the island. Church built in the year 1864 until now still maintained the authenticity of its architecture.

Mansinam islands located in the Gulf of Doreh, Kabupaten Manokwari, West Papua province, Indonesia. Manokwari from land, Mansinam island is only about six kilometers. Of Manokwari regency, tourists can cross over to Island Beach Mansinam through Kwawi. From this beach, crossing to the island Mansinam can be done using traditional boat or long boat.
